What's the difference between wiped film evaporator and distillation unit?

Both use a wiped film mechanism where a wiper spreads the liquid into a thin film across the heated surface.

However, molecular distillation units usually feature a shorter path between the evaporating surface and the condenser to ensure that the separated molecules are quickly condensed and removed from the system to prevent contamination.
